I didn't know what to think about this and kept coming back to it. I guess it's the metaphorical aspect; the thorns, the portentious and darkening sky, the desaturated and moody tones. It might have an even stonger impact (on me) if some of the extraneous, or smaller branches, were cloned out to simplify the message. That is, of course, if that's what the message was.

Really interesting lighting. It looks like you used a whole bank of flood lights, that bounced off the saguaros and lit up the vapor trails. Unique processing.
