Maple syrupby bucketComment: The location of the collection can seems too near the center of the photo. I am used to seeing trees of this proportional size (wrt the photo) set off to the side and used as framing elements. I thinkd the disparate elements of the photo have potential that is untapped by this photo. |

Gone Fishingby garrywhite2Comment: This is an amazing capture. I've never seen this happen, nor can I remember seeing a photo of it.
In action photos,I understand that there are severe limitations to the control one has over composition. Bearing that in mind, I find the water line to be too strong. One possibility is to crop it out. This means clipping the end of one wing, but I think that the photo would be much stronger presented this way and cropped into a vertical format. Increasing the contrast between subject and water using photoshop might make the image more impactful. |

Fishing the refineryby ovenbirdComment: I think this a remarkable photo. The colors are gorgeous. The line is strong. There is good variation in texture which leads you through the photo. In a perfect world (and these are but the merest trifling quibbles) I could imagine the subject more toward the left of the photo, balancing the tall column and the bag he has brought to be out of the photo entirely. |

Wise Guyby filmguyaComment: All I can think is 'Mr Ed.' In the case of this photo, it might be subtitled, 'The barn with ears.' I like the low angle and the expression on the horse's face. I also like the barn, but I don't like the roofline passing through his ears. I also find the 1/4 door below his mouth distracting. |

Next Generationby glad2badadComment: The pine cone posesses a primal attraction whose explanation has eluded anthropologists and psychologists for centuries. I'm afraid that the harsh lighting has made this viewing angle pretty much impossible for a good shot, since the brighness of the sky and the shadow in the cone are too far apart to be captured by a digital camera without some careful auxilliary lighting.
I like the mathematical shape of the cone, its placement on a rule of thirds vertex, and the trifold symmetry of the twigs that radiate from it. I find the subject to be a little to small and too hard to see. |

Long-Tailed Titby KonadorComment: Crisp focus. Nice composition. A fortuitous accident tha tthe color and texture of the metal screens manage to match those of the subject? The color of the background is ideal and so is the dodging. Credit to the photographer for taking great advantage of the advanced editing rules. Very Nice |
