Changing tacksby arpitaComment: I find all the transparent pins - especially the out-of-focus pins - to be quite beautiful. While I am usually bowled over by yellow and red used together tastefully - as they are here, I find myself wondering whether the photo would not be much more visually appealing if all the tacks were transparent. I understand it would mean losing one layer of meaning from the title, but I think it might be worth it. |

Refracted Tacksby NordlysComment: Perhaps it was a choice to use warm light for this shot, but I wonder whether it makes things look muddy in a way that detracts from the photo? The golden and red pins probably are improved by the look. The green and violet pins take on a moody smoky look which is interesting. I think it is the muddiness of the dark shadows that bother me most, and the odd color of the background highlights. ... Okay, after photoshopping the incandescent light out of it I realize that I'm no happier with the photo. I really love its colorful transparent elements individually, but there is something about the composition that still bothers me. |

Tacking Apart ...by JeileenComment: Are we to conclude that this tack is feeling blue because it is all alone? It strikes me as a beautiful shot visually. And the fact that it works in a metaphorical way makes it much stronger. |

Attacked!by Pug-HComment: Woody abuse! Woody abuse! The color palette works nicely. And it's a nice take on the theme. |

(a)tackby DanSigComment: Intersting. I'm wowed at the inclusion of that big white shaggy blanket thing which fills almost half the frame. It somehow MAKES the photo; although after considerable reflection, I'm not clear about its connection to the tacks. Nice shot. |

In the Rainby ZoomdakComment: Remiinds me of the Letterman segment 'Will it Float?' Great composition, lighting exposure. Nice, simple idea. |

Spike a Drink by TranquilComment: The fluid, glass, and background are ideally realized. I wonder if you considered using a clear or shiny metallic tack. Perhaps that would make the photo a little more confusing, but the muddy red color of this tack strikes me as being completely inconsistent with the visual qualities of the rest of the photo. I know it should be a quibble, but the tack is the 'focal point' of the photo and if it is not pretty, it's like a long joke with no |
