this is my favorite of the kids collection.
the tones here are awesome, would you mind sharing your technic, that you used to convert this one to b&w?

wow, he is a lucky guy...:D

did you use an additional flash for the middle one, because there is a bright blownout spot on the woman's forehead, that is quite distracting...
otheriwse it's a great series, every single shot has it's own quality and message.

this is a great candid(?) portrait, love the different hues of blue.
the negative space above her head kinda bothers me, i cant really tell you why. and maybe try to straighten the background (on the right).
otherwise good work :)

this is a really cool processing and colors, i also like your point of view and all the leading lines, on one hand the lines leading into the middle of the pic and on the other hand the shadows from the posts leading towards the sun. really nice!

i like the warm skin tones form the evening light in this one, the pose is nice, too. you got them looking like a cool and fun crowd. try to use a shorter lens next time, with your tele zoom you're stuck to at least 1/100sec on the 75mm end. the photos looks blurry from a long shutter speed...

yeah, next time ask em if you can shoot from the stage, so you can have the audience in the picture. try close ups and if you have a wide angle, try some cool perspectives and such.
i did some band shooting recently, too. check out my portfolio for examples of what i mean with different angles.

you should have called it "cotton mouth" like this killer bitch from "kill bill"...
but nice effort, i didn't vote in this challenge unfortunately, ringlights rule! ;)
i think it's a bit annoying that your subject is not exactly in the middle of the frame because IMO in these symmetric compositions that's important to take care of.
anyways, cool shot! :)

wow, awesome lighting, man, i think it's not at all boring.
the cross reminded me on that car accident campaign, where the icelandic government(?) placed crashed cars in front of a huge black cross at certain places all around the ring road...

hi jamie, i've had a look through your portfolio and see that many shots really do have a good and interesting compositon and many, like this one here, have not. the lighting in this shot is really nice, i like the shades of red in the sand and her hair and the holiday-like feel. the centered composition just doesn't work. sure, sometimes a centered comp does work in order to perceive an atmosphere of calm and tranquility, but in this case an off-centered comp would have been a better choice imo.for example have the woman in the upper right corner as if she is walking out of the photo, leaving a great day at the beach behind. or have her on the left side (always remember the "rule of thirds") and crop the photo panoramic (i.e. 640x160 pixels) having her walk "into" the photo (the choice is only a matter of YOUR interpretation).
i like these minimalism kind of shots, just keep on shootin' and try to experiment with composition and perspective, i think these two are far more important than the best processing technics in the world... ;-) good luck
