A Long Road To Here.by PedroComment: There is a slight glow around the man, maybe too harsh on the USM threshold, or possibly resizing to a low res image? I tend to be leniant on possible resizing errors and sharpening and such for small files. Regardless, I like this the best in the challenge, and I have voted on a lot so far. Excellent entry, and I hope you get a ribbon. Nice work. |

IMG_5142.jpgby ourwebstopComment: "I was fooling with the polarizing filter, and it completely eliminated the reflection off the water"
Its been my experience that using a polarizer and facing directly at the light source will have too much darkening effect on part of your picture, when adjusting for the bright light. Unfortunately I have not found a good way to balance that out with photoshop yet, but what you have here does not ruin the photo. If I were to have taken this shot with the polarizer, I may have pointed the camera up higher to capture more sky and less water. Good job though, it looks really nice. |

IMG_5159.jpgby ourwebstopComment: nice capture. If this were mine, I would crop off the top, so that the right corner is less distracting, but thats just my taste. Its a nice photo regardless. |

Between Bright and Darkby tonyvComment: Ahh, the beauty of difference in opinion.(per other comments) Sure a horizontal landscape shot would look great, but I'm a fan of stunning landscape photos with a big sky. In this case, the sky is intetesting so it works. Personally, if I were to shoot something similar to this, if there were different kinds of clouds in the frame, and the sky had some action going on, I'd go with the vertical shot (like yours), thus capturing the atmospherical action.
If I had any suggestions to improve, I'd say a tad adjustment to the contrast in the sky, but not so much as to peak any highlights. Great shot though. Good job. Message edited by author 2005-08-20 12:09:49. |
