Treeby miracComment: Post card shot :) I like this image a lot. Door feels a little too close to top edge of frame and border is just a tad heavy for my tastes.

Panning for goldby GordonComment: A great pan. I'd like this even more if the back of the car were in shot but it's very good as it is too. I am not so keen on such a thick border.

The End of Winterby ZiggyComment: Very pretty - a beautifully captured sunset shot with enough shape in the silhouette of the land to add interest.

Almost Goneby JPRComment: I love this (and it's not just because I'm desperate to go back on safari). It puts into mind the safari pictures of old - and also reminds me of a magazine advert in style. I like the way we only see the back of the cheetah but see the shape of the rest of him in his silhouette.
Lighting is just a touch harsh on his legs and the bowl behind his back feet distracts from the legs/ feet.
Overall a great shot (and well cropped).

Radianceby FranziskaLangComment: This feels like tissue paper - there is a softness to it that I can't describe well. The image has been growing on me (and rising in score) since I first looked at it.

Golden Deliciousby JMSComment: Great colour and composition. Doesn't seem quite sharp to me.

Winter Leafby bioshoreComment: This is beautiful - the texture is so finely depicted and the way the leaf filters the light is wonderful.

Look At Me!by stephanComment: Critique Club
Initial thoughts
Great colours and quite dynamic.
Composition/ Content
I like the squared crop (despite what you say below) ΓΆ€“ I am a big fan (and user) of non-standard-ratio crops.
Interesting content though my point of focus is a little confused ΓΆ€“ I find myself looking more at the bright blue object beneath the sign than at the sign itself. I also find the road lights leading my eye away into the distance ΓΆ€“ this is actually interesting as the objects on the left then pull me back to the foreground.
Background
Nice converging lines ΓΆ€“ I like that there is detail towards the front but less as we look further away ΓΆ€“ and the colours really convey night time road conditions.
Camera Work - Technical
Seems very grainy but I like it ΓΆ€“ enhances the night-time feel.
Digital Processing - Technical
Image quality seems fine ΓΆ€“ a little jagged around the white of the road sign.
I find it hard to say much as it's obviously a deliberate over-processing - I am not very knowledgeable about such processing.
Fits The Challenge
Yup!
Your Opinion On The Photo
Interesting and invites another look. Unusual colours and composition retain the attention. Message edited by author 2003-01-31 10:01:03. |
