Stare of an Emuby GaiaComment: Ha haaa, this one makes me smile. Nice detail in the beak and eye but DOF may be just a touch too shallow as I'd also like detail in the fur on the head and neck. |

Puffinsby CreativeFlyPhotoComment: Nice capture and good detail in white feathers so very nicely exposed but background really doesn't work well. |

A Walk in the Gardenby waterliliesComment: Nice to show the environment but in this case the bird is not a strong focal point. Firstly because it's in the shadow whereas the brightest area is the grass behind - need more light on it and less elsewhere - and secondly because the image has detail from foreground all the way through to background - shallow DOF and blurred background might help. |

Ostrich?by ZippyComment: Sweet capture of behaviour but, for an image to work for me on a visually appealing level, I need more eyes and less arse. Background also uninspiring too detailed. |

Hobo Duckiesby scrum8Comment: Cute! I really like the ducklings themselves and the light in their eyes is great. What I dislike is the distraction of those white rocks behind. Even the rusty container isn't ideal but it's less of a distraction than the rocks. |

Et tu, Emu?by BebeComment: Nice eye detail and unusual angle helps a touch but simply not sharp enough or interesting enough to score highly with me. |

Voyagersby Bear_MusicComment: There seems to be such a strange halo around the two geese - I don't know if that's because of an effect filter or because you've selectively processed the water/ birds etc. The whole thing feels soft too so maybe it's all down to a soft focus filter (not a fan myself). I like the composition but the processing doesn't work at all for me. |

New Feathersby NobodyComment: Nice exposure, night lighting and good framing but... whilst it's interesting from a behavioural point of view, the pose just makes for a "messy" composition. |

Balancing Actby mmenardComment: I think I'd really like this if only I could make the bird out more clearly against the background. They are simply too close in colour for me and whilst that may well be because of the bird's propensity to rest in places where it is camouflaged, it doesn't make for as strong a picture, in my opinion. If only the background were pale and bright like the rock it rests upon! Also, I don't know if it's because you've selected the background and then blurred it or due to sharpening but there's a very strong pale halo right around the bird which doesn't look good to me at all. |

soaring serenityby BeetleComment: Interesting viewpoint though looking up in this way means what we see is in shadow. Image seems soft too - I just cant make out any detail. Composition works well. |
