The Sleeping Shopperby MontereykiddoComment: when I crop this as a horizontal, eliminating the price tag and the out-of-focus tiedown, it snaps a whole lot better. Except for the distracting foreground, this one is very nice indeed. |

Happy Days by qmdiComment: such a nice shot, at core. Oversharpened by a great deal, to the point of producing a halo between figure and ground. the slightly off-center cropping isn't working for me; all that space on the right is not helping the picture. I wish it were a bit more centered, and especially that I could see all of the basket. |

Gone Fishingby PDavisComment: This doesn't really feel like a candid to me; more of an abstract with a silhouetted figure. A nice shot regardless. |

Donut Birthday Cakeby DougPazComment: Another true candid, and a warm & funny one. It leaves me wondering about the backstory; are the donuts a request, did someone forget to make a ccake, or did the dog eat the cake? Enquring minds want to know... |

Distraughtby SDWComment: In many ways this is quite powerful. It's marred by oversharpening, and I wish the DOF was dropping the background out more; this is extremely busy. |

'the fence painter'by suemackComment: A nice shot, but not one that grabs me and makes me take notice. Quite & contemplative, sure to please the mother... |

When we were young...by jin_tonicComment: nicely composed, vibrant and vaguely disturbing. The one face turned right, as allt he others face left, is excellent, and that this face is crowned with spikes makes it even better. If I have a problem here, though, it is that it seems like the "object" of this picture is the pointing at whatever's happening off-frame to the left, and I'd think it would work better if the anomalous figure had a look of disgust or boredom, rather than the entirely neutral look he is wearing. Or is he a she? |
