I don't like this kind of shot normally ... I usually think "contrived studio shot" and pass it by. But this does have some real impact. The light grabs the attention, of course, but there's also something more than that. It's probably better than I think, and I was thinking 6. So ... it's a 7

I think the light effect is OK here; not brilliant but not bad ... the highlights are a bit too high for me (although I am of course aware that it was intentional). But what I think is extremely impressive is your composition and cropping, which I think are perfect for the subject, and give the image great artistic impact. 8

The most original idea anyone had. And you know what? It's not just a clever stunt, it is a very nice photograph. It has the look of a carefully composed abstract image. So I guess that's what it must be. 7

This is nicely composed to effectively exploit the contrast between the reflected lights and the pitch black night sky. Looks a bit grainy, but then again so do I. 7

I don't know what this is ... something fermenting? Something melting? Whatever it is, it's hard to resist. I'm betting it is an unremarkable subject into which you've breathed life with your clever perception of the light on the thing rather than the thing itself. 7

I see this as a three-way satisfaction of the challenge ... the beacon(s), the sparkling light on the water, and the light, open composition. And I like all three. 8

Beautiful portrait. It uses light in three ways to maximise the impact ... the soft shadow on the RH face, the bright slash of sunlight on LH face, and the bokeh-type background over the left shoulder. And the image would be diminished by the absence of any of the three. Well done. 8

Everyone will say Monet, I guess. It's a beautiful image for several reasons, but in particular it's a very impressive and instructive study of the effect of light on different surfaces and textures. 8.

This is ALL about light. The architecture, the composition, the camera and the processing. I've seen a photograph of this dome before, not looking quite so pale. So I'll be interested in the comments of that photographer (if it ain't you, of course). 8

A very beautiful, sensuous photograph. Elegantly composed and well executed. And of course the lighting is striking; it's the reason that this image works. Challenge well met. 9
