Purple Hazeby troyloxComment: It's a striking visual effect but leaves me a bit disappointed. Maybe it's my age; when you say "Purple Haze" to me I think Hendrix, and not Preppy Boy here. That's probably it; I remember the 60's, so my opinion almost certainly doesn't matter to you anyway! Actually I do like your shot of the lights, but the guy lacks a similar impact. Sorry. 5 |

The Lightby sigrun_thComment: I think this is too much in your face (pardon the pun). The subject seems so close as to be overwhelming, so that the moody & mysterious effect of your strong side lighting is diminished. It feels more like a shot of an eye and a nostril to me. Sorry. 5 |

Temple of Lightby AndrewTOComment: A meticulously composed and cropped image. Just feels a bit short on soul to me, as if there's no real point to it. It's probably just the careful symmetry that doesn't excite me. The photo itself is technically very good, and it does showcase the effect of light quite well. 7 |

Using the Last of Itby puzzledComment: This is an attractive image. The reeds in the foreground and the trees in the background seem to work together to lift this scene, and to provide some depth. The patches of light on the ice conect the skaters nicely, too. 7 |

"Breaking Through"by jemisonComment: There's something surprising about this. There's not much to it, yet it has an impact. I suppose it's the starkness of the sparkling rock against the clouds (is it a rock?). And the strip of black sky at the very top adds to the intrigue. 7 |

Departureby jjbeguinComment: The light is certainly the dominant element of this image. I'm not convinced that it has to be tilted, although I guess it saves you from having us all bitching about the verticals being just slightly out. Anyway, it's a very effective light study. 7 |

Light on the Lighthouse at Cape Trafalgarby AranchaComment: This is a nice seascape shot. but it is a little let down by the over-processed edges on the rocks (centre right) and by the inclination of the lighthouse. I think a lighthouse has to be meticulously vertical to be taken seriously. 6 |

Backlitby helgihelgiComment: The fact that the figure is carrying something (coffee?) makes this so much more interesting. Nice image with effective use of (back) light. 7 |

Winter Benchby BeagleboyComment: I love the effect of the light on the snow. Like height contours on a topographical map. The bench is also terrific. Nice composition. 7 |
