Victoryby idnicComment: Terrific image. I'm an old military guy; I love the haircut, love the flag, love the cigar. It's a simple, "F-You" kind of portrait, and all the more powerful for that. The pussies will hate it, which is yet another thing I like about it. 8. |

Mesmerizingby gaurawaComment: A technically flawless photograph and indeed it is a mesmerising result. My only criticism is that is seems a contrived, set-up image (as I'm sure it was) ... it just doesn't feel real-world to me, but that's Steve McCurry's fault. Still, an expert job. 7 |

winkby whiteroomComment: Well it's a very cute image and can't fail to appeal. Given the charming pose, I like the unusually wide frame ... it makes me feel he's about to lob that apple straight through the picture at me. 7 |

Coachby coolharComment: Very strong, candid portrait. You have captured the intensity, concentration and emotion that attend this man's job. That's what I like; a real-world portrait that reveals something worth knowing about the subject. Well done. 8. |

Commesso di Limoncelloby tateComment: A simple, unpretentious portrait, and all the more effective for that. Love the well-chosen depth of field. At first glance this looks like a quick snapshot, but it's not ... it's a deceptively skilful work. 8. |

Charmby magnusComment: Super portrait and wonderful, original pose. This photograph gives the viewer an insight into the appealing personality of the subject. I know you probably meant "Charm" as a reference to the jewellery, but there's plenty of the other kind of charm, too. 8 |

Janelleby cheleComment: This is a terrific candid portrait. The simple composition and unpretentious, casual feel makes it a very fine and real-life image. As a result, Janelle is a participant in the portrait, and not just a pretty prop. 8 |

Happyby glad2badadComment: It's not a technically perfect photograph (thank goodness), but it is a really good portrait. The viewer can't help but smile at her happiness and her apparent close bond with her horse. 7 |

One year after ...by MambeComment: I remember it well (it's not a full year yet). Stll love it. As for the new composite image, it is perhaps less stylish than the original, but there's still something about it ... like a hidden meaning, I think. 7 |

Renée at Ease — Labor Day, Sunset, 2005by Bear_MusicComment: This is the only 'over-processed' entry I approve of. I guess that's because in this case it may not be over-processed at all. This delightful subject seems all the more appealing for the nostalgic glow you've given her, especially as it was taken at sunset on a holiday. 8 |
