The Nightmare fenceby Ecce_SignumComment: Well, by now you know what I'm going to say, so I don't need to say it. (hic!)
Thanks for a month full of most excellent surprises, Andi. |

Country Roadby trevytrevComment: Originally posted by tph1: This was a fun month, wasn't it? Some of the best photos were ones with no focal point, like this one. Go figure. Nice work, Trev. I will look for more of your stuff. Tom |
Yep, I agree. I think it's because they exist somewhere in the never-never land, between abstract and not quite. I love looking at them more than once because they change with the moment.
Thanks for all the images and the comments, Trevor.

Wilson 4by Art RoflmaoComment: Wilson? Is that you?
I thought this guy drowned when he fell of Tom Hanks's raft? |

Oh God, this photograph is just getting better and better as it is itself aging! I am thrilled that so many have been moved to think and write with such feeling about this extraordinary photograph. |

Abstract Abstractionistby pawdrixComment: Beret? Is he wearing a beret? I hope so. I have about 50 hats (honestly) and not one beret. I was waiting to get old enough ... maybe I have waited too long?
Very cool shot of a shot. I love those cars! Message edited by author 2009-01-30 21:00:40. |

strollby ErinMComment: I had (still have) the impression that he is relatively still and the scene is revolving about him. |

all that remains by ErinMComment: A clutch of spent flowers pressed between parchment pages, and thus made immortal. Lovely. |

Tree and guyby MelethiaComment: After reading that other ghastly thread, I hope it will give you a chuckle if I assure you that this would not have been a 3! (I only hope that its replacement doesn't turn out to have been so, 'cause I'll feel absolutely dreadful.)
This one has everything that I hope for in a photograph ... ambiguity; a tantalising blend of the implicit with the explicit; a stimulating juxtaposition; exceptionally beautiful restrained tones; and a graphic elegance and aesthetic that exists independent of the actual subject matter. It even has a killer title. I could look at it for a very long time indeed, and I am in fact doing so now. I will not lie to you Deb ... if it had been entered in Single Tree, I promise you I would have chosen it as Best in Challenge. And awarded it the Order of the Thumb, which I now do anyway.

HMF_8326.jpgby hannekeComment: More please. The light and the concept/composition are really exquisite. You took on a massive tonal range this time, and still managed the exposure perfectly. |

HMF_8309.jpgby hannekeComment: Wow. That exposure is perfect! I've always said that with LB exposure is more important than focus, and I've secretly wondered if I was really correct. This shows me that I was. It's simple, but remarkably lovely. If this is really your first LB shot, please don't forget to post some more! |
