all the hopes and dreams in the world

I'm not entirely sure I understand this, which is a rare bonus in this undemanding company. It's at once literal and figurative, or maybe I mean representational and abstract. It's a bit anthropomorphic, from some angles. And it's quite cattish as well, in places. Plus the light's very nice. Overall, it's like an old pullover: the appeal doesn't have to be rationalized. Thank Goodness for that! And thank you for the picture, for which I confer a shiny new Order of the Thumb.

Well, yes he is. I like this for it's strangeness in both idea and execution. I especially like the fact that the TV is clearer and more assured of its relevance than is the protagonist, Jedermann. The TV seems to be sitting in judgement of him, which is probably as you intended. Apt. Thank you, and bravo for attempting something as ambitious as this. Your exciting prize is an Order of the Thumb. Lucky you!

I like this. Many will bleat that it isn't a portrait, but it is for me. A picture like this of my late father, for example, would have been a perfect portrait of him.

The conventional approach to portraits is of course the close up head shot with the pimped eyes and grotesquely smoothed skin. Or the gnarly head shot with the grunge processing.

The conventional approach to the challenge topic ('classic portrait' and 'typically captures the face' blah blah blah) is to be constrained by it, rather than liberated by it.

You'll be getting blasted for your audacity, just as did this fellow traveler.

Convention and blind obedience suck, don't they? Why go along, just to produce something two-dimensional and instantly forgettable? So BRAVO you, and please accept my top pick, a 10, and an Order of the Thumb.
Thank you.

This is simply terrific! It's always a pleasure to look at photographs that explore the edges of reason, because they are so loaded with possibilities. Here I see a Confessional where the sinner is provided with adequate sinning opportunity, in order to make the visit a success for everyone involved. A very sensible approach to both sin and salvation ('As I intend to prosper and repent, so thrive I in my dangerous affairs'), as well as, of course, to secrets. It's in my top three picks and certainly weird enough to wear an Order of the Thumb. Gratis tibi ago.

Now this is (intentionally) very clever. The uncertainty, contradiction and innocence of the age is perfectly represented in your sympathetic treatment. Your picture is a fine example of when and why convention can be profitably ditched. It's in my top three picks, and damned with the faint praise of the Order of the Thumb. Thank you.

I remember your inspiring me to observe, years ago it was, that the window is the place where two worlds meet. What I love about your window pictures is that they reveal the nature of that taken-for-granted magic portal in two ways ... literally in the sense of inside/outside, etc; but also figuratively, in the sense of perception of a picture. Your window pictures are themselves a portal - and an uncommonly accessible one - between abstract and representational worlds in photography. Thank you. Again.

Yes. I thought of ICBMs all self-destructing one second into their flight. It could be a poster for an apocalyptic movie.

Crickey! What a reduction this is! And a very good one, because the essence of the boats has been picked out and concentrated, clean and pure. But it works beautifully as a color/tone/shape abstract too. Thank you.

That's an awful lot of unknown women. Don't let it become an obsession, Miss M.
