Evil hairdoby karinnComment: Greetings from the Critique Club:
This is a lovely, striking portrait. The choice of black and white really works here. It appears slightly over-processed in the lower left hand corner of the frame and I think those strands of hair over the left eye could have been moved out of the way before the shot or taken out in post. Great work! |

A River Flood As Seen From A Passing Train Windowby EssAreDubyaComment: Greetings from the Critique Club:
Something about this image grabs my attention. It has a spooky feel to it and I think the contrast works for this image. You probably would have done better with a wider angle of view. I see you used a 17-85 zoom. It doesn't appear that you used the wide end of the zoom. People usually look for more coverage in a landscape. That said, it is quite impressive especially as it was done from the window of a moving train. |

Rainbow Rocketby cogeroxComment: Greetings from the Critique Club:
What can I say, this is a beautiful landscape. The rainbow in the clouds on one side provides a wonderful contrast to the blue sky on the other. If one was to nit-pick, I would say that since it was an expert-editing challenge you could take out the bit of foliage in the foreground to the left of the frame. |

My Boy and His Cowlickby dahvedComment: Greetings from the Critique Club:
First off, I would like to say that your composition is unusual and interesting. I think a smaller aperture (maybe f/2.8) would have increased the depth-of-field and helped to bring more of his crown into focus. High contrast images usually work better for black and white. That said, try using the channel mixer as opposed to straight de-saturation for more flexibility in conversion.
Happy Shooting! |
