A Farewell to Armsby RKTComment: Very well done. Excellent use of contrasting tonality and composition. I agree that this should have placed higher... Definitely a standout shot. Message edited by author 2006-10-09 09:06:20. |

Busyby owenComment: Patience pays off! One of the best macro shots I've ever seen on DPC. |

Tacy.jpgby dassilemComment: Easily the best of the bunch. When you get everything else right, you always find something more to work on.... Well I do anyhow...
Feels a bit soft to me and also - like the others - a bit too cool, particularly in the skin tones. |

Young at 37 yearsby RasaiComment: Nice pic. I suspect it's a tiny bit oversharpened, but I think that is probably due to using the wrong sharpening settings for 640x480. Pics are a lot more sensitive to sharpening at this resolution.
One thing that I find helps prevent the data loss and subsequent need for strong sharpening in small sizes is using multiple steps for reducing size. I don't know if you did this or not, but if you didn't, you might want to look into it. |

On the Flip-Sideby ShermyComment: This image really stood out to me during voting. I didn't have enough time to finish voting, but it would have pulled a 9 from me.
Oddly, it's an image that I like more than others that I would have voted 10 on.
I have a strong feeling that the things I don't like about the DPC presentation of this pic are inherent to the DPC presentation only. I would imagine that they are not present in the original.
Very nicely spotted and pulled off. |

green amongst greyby redmoonComment: Interesting use of the odd blurring. It adds a little business to the picture, although I'm not sure I like it 100%. The addition of the reading man really makes the picture.
Nice use of the curve in the stairs too. |
