Pipe Dreamsby maxjComment: I think you could improve this with a little more light and more DOF. Bring the ice in foreground into focus so I know its ice. Portrait style crop would eliminate some of the negative space.

Fall on a Farmby maxjComment: You could have used less sky. As a general rule try to leave the sky out of your photos unless it is pretty and blue or dramatic.
I think if you try a longer lens and create a more clear subject this could be a great shot.

Behold!by maxjComment: Taking shots like this and working with differant exposures is a good way to learn. The subject lacks intrest. The voters might have been a little to hard on this one though.

Stand Upby maxjComment: I think your subject(the infocus part) is a little small and centered. I think a differant composition would have more pazazz. However I do like the way you have hidden the sharp-to-blurry line.
