Bowing under pressure - A last-minute, first entry!by kb4553Comment: I must say that the bright notes really distrack a lot from the instrument and the musician. I like the clarity of the strings and wooden arch below crossed by the swaying bow. I can't hear the sound because the bright lights are pulling me away from any scene of sound that may have been played. It's like a movie that tells your more than the whole story and forgets that we like a little suspense. Our imagination of what is heard between the strings can be much lounder than any glaring light shaped notes. I really loved some photos I've rated as much as yours simply because you embraced the theme of sound better but they seemed to handle the technical aspect the the medium better than you...for now. Good luck with the challenge. |

HPN - High Power Noiseby keyzComment: Reminds me of Saturday Nights Live performance. Those actors of improve extraordinaire have a few things they could learn from you. Way too weird for me to comment other than stop making all that noise. Your giving me a headache. And here I was looking to more noise in the calm and subtle entries that I've rated so far. I take it back. Give me some quiet noise form now on. Good entry. There is no mistaking that wide open mouth for anything other than sound, sound and sound. Body too centered in the photo could have been sweeter to one side. The color seemed a little off but I could be falling to the spell of rock and metalic roll. Good luck. |

A whispery chorus of crickets and bullfrogs, with a faint rustling of leaves.by glad2badadComment: It don't mean a thing if I can't hear a thing. I want to be there in person. I love frogs and critters that make sounds I can't even discribe. I would have enjoyed the moment of sound had it been taken at dusk or dawn when the insects and such belt out in resounding song. This is a great tranquil scene and I want to go sitting in that bench on the right but after twelve votes, I am waiting for someone to make some noise. Good luck. PS I had to read the title before grasping your notion of sound vs caption. |

Is There Anybody Out There ??by mrbig65Comment: Hmmm! The teeny tiny sound of an egg cracking open for the first time. At first glance I though no way will I give a decent score for sound. The more I looked at this photo, I remembered the movie far and away where a little girl was slowly listening in amazement at geese being hatched and the sound was amplified in stereophonic splendor and orchestration. I love that movie as I slowly started to love your photo. It may be too centered for my taste and I did just finished running away from voting for a shockingly fanatic dog entry. Good effort. I am still looking for a less subtle sounding photo with a noisy bang and clang. Yours is smooth and nice and gets the smooth and nice sounding score. Thanks for sharing. |

Bailey, Singing For Her Supperby dtallaksonComment: Insanity lies here. I'm very scared now. I hate scarry movies and this puppy is making me nervous. I love friendly dogs and I think I can hear this one bark or howl but I just can't keep my eyes on him long enough to capture the moment. I have to go now and by the way, I really hate the no background but white effect. Good luck in the challenge. |

Chromonica 270by swallaceComment: Love the chrome, the closeness, being able to read the numbers and the letters and now top three on my list so far but I am still looking for that photo where someone is actually playing that thing to death. You could have been a contender if you had dared to play a few notes. My favorite music photo so far. |

B u dby CuttoothComment: I really don't like this photo. I guess looking into someones ear is not my cup of tea. I am a coffee drinker after all... but I must confess that I must give you higher marks due to the nailing of the challenge being Sound. I just finished giving very poor scores to fantastic looking photos yet you best them with this basic in your face, see it everyday on the busbudology theme. Luck. |

Dancing on the Keysby MinsoPhotoComment: I'm not frame friendly but I like a good close-up. Good crop/composition of three main areas. I liked the blur and depth of your shot with focus on the nimble fingers. The reflection is my favorite bonus pulling me into the scene by trying to follow the reflected lines that bring me back to the playing hand. My favorite so far and my third vote after a long time being absent. Good luck. |

Turn up the Silenceby Luci11eComment: Very clever but I see wondrous lines and great composition without that noise factor that I am looking for. If the tree falls in this photo will I be able to hear the crash? I like the composition and the off center placement of the tree. The three cloud spots make the photo fabulous as do the three protruding trunks. I'm not sure if I like or dislike the fact that you left so little dark surface at the bottom of your photo. I love it but can't hear a sound. |

Sunset Jamsby giantmikeComment: Lovely soft tone but I wish I could get more sound out of that guitar. The focus seems to be a very big piece of the sky. Meditative like the creative exercise of looking for inspiration in space before getting down to the business of music. I can see the music but I can't hear it. |
