rhythm and motionby RikkiComment: From the Critique Club :
Hi Rikki !
Congrats for your ribbon !
Now with 3 blue and 3 yellow , my advice is to go to the red ones ! ;-)
After all the comments you received and the score , there's not really much to add and even less advices to improve the photo.
Only my opinion : I really like this creative photo because with simple elements you have produced an impactive and colorful shot , that's brilliant ! The only secret here is maybe the lighting , you know very well how to use the light (as we all know).
You have met almost all your goals for year 2006 and it's still may ...
OMG ! What's next ?

Foul Huntby efrenComment: From the Critique Club :
Hi Efren ,
It could have been useful if you wrote something in the "photographer's comments" ... with your thoughts about your photo , the story , if you know what has happened with this animal , your steps during the edition , etc.
Imo it meets the challenge , there are several publications dedicated to animals , maybe viewers/voters expected something more general having in mind common newspapers. Your final score doesn't reflect a DNMC.
It's a rather good photo , it has been impactive as you can read in the comments left.
To improve it ? Maybe correcting the chromatic aberration visible around the beak and head , maybe this have been more noticeable due to the sharpening.
Please keep in mind that this is just my opinion , feel free to email me about this critique.

Sliver of Moonby _eugComment: From the Critique Club :
Congrats for your ribboned photo in Photojournalism II.
Now about this one , during the voting time I left you a short comment.
Does it meet the challenge ? Yes , of course , it was a free study ! But maybe because it was a free study , viewers/voters expected something more.
Your entry was too minimalist for this challenge (in my opinion) , this moon maybe means something special or important for you but you haven't given clues in the title.
The colors are nice.
For reasons unknown for me , generally people don't like if the subject is centered , sincerily I'm not sure that this photo would have scored higher with a different composition like the moon in a corner.
Please feel free to email me about this critique. My name is Mambe and this is my first day in the Critique Club.

Rainbow Rythm by timfythetooComment: From the Critique Club :
Congrats for your first ribbon ! A blue one , that's great !
First things that came to my mind when I saw your photo were : original , very creative. That's something I value because the elements you used are easy to find ; the way you have used them , your idea , was very good.
All is in focus , it's colorful , it's pleasant to see.
To improve it ? well , hard to say , maybe less noise in the sky (surely due to the unsharp mask and sharpening).
Enjoy it , Tim !

IMG_3995a-drag-sm.jpgby ShamanComment: Interesting approach and I like the drop of water in the bottom right.
The focus is excellent on every petal , the texture is visible but not excessive.A good job ! |

'Bringing purr therapy to the elderly'by suemackComment: Very emotive photo ! Yours is a tribute to all of those people who take time to bring joy to "forgotten" 3rd age people.
This one is a wonderful therapy for the soul and for the body.
About the photo , it's very good with the focus on the kitten , B&W is perfect here.
This is not "just another photo with cat" ... |

Trees of Knowlageby jentComment: You maybe should have rotate it a bit to straighten the photo.
If your intention was to center the attention upon the trees , a vertical(portrait) shot could have been more stunning or maybe just if you'd have took this one showing more the branches of the trees.
What I don't like in this photo is the white/greyish square , it seems like you "paint" it , all the path look unreal. |

Gaye Lynn loves flowersby weiszComment: She's a beautiful woman but I don't like the pose , flowers are "disturbing" ,she has a very expressive face and lovely eyes , you didn't need more... |
