Man, I see this image too often in Northern Nevada. Nice use of color and interesting placement within the frame. A real cow in the shot somewhere would have been interesting.

Oh, it took me a second to get it. Great idea. At first it looked like some sort of train moving off the the screen. The image creates movement. I like the framing and the reflection.

Very funny. I like your humor. The colors seem drab and faded with the light source working against the image rather than enhancing it. Fun idea, though.

Great job of letting this image fill the frame. Centering it smack dab in the middle works well in this instance, even though it violates the first rule of compostion. The stark red and white really do shout out the message.

Penalty Time

Comment:
This photo doesn't work for me because of the position you have put the ref in. He seems to be cowering. Maybe that was intended. I think it would be more powerful to have him facing down a player, throwing down the flag, or marking off the penalty. It sort of looks like he is a lady daintily picking up a hankie. Good use of color and crisp image. The placement of the subject within the frame is nicely done, also.

Man's Imposed Authority over Women

Comment:
The angle and point of view certainly capture the feeling of the cowering woman. As a woman, I am uncomfortable staring down at the woman. I am sure that was intended. Since you are using it as a key element, I want to see the belt image tight and crisp. The woman should be even more out of focus because her abuser doesn't empathize with her pain. Since you are putting me in the position of abuser by your choice of point of view, I should see the woman as nonhuman as her abuser would. Daring photo. I appreciate your courage and your willingness to take a risk.

I like this idea. The open space at the bottom of the photo is distracitng. I would like to see you pull in tighter, and swing around more to full front, not square on full but to give the image a more solid feel. I think you should either square it up a bit, or completely come in from the side with the words MY AUTHORITY filling the frame and every other word softly and fading away.

Nice use of color, but perhaps it is a bit too pleasant for your subject matter. The contrast of the lines of the building and the spokes and spines of the shrubbery, is striking. Interesting framing, angle, and point of view.

White man's burden or tyrant's charm ...
by markmulkerin

Comment:
I am not sure here what White man's burden means. Nice use of space and line. The photo does make me want to take a step back and get out of the way. The artist's choice of angle and point of view works very well. Sorry I don't get the White man's burden part. It is probably obvious. Is it that we must bear the burden of all the killing that has been done by white men? Let me know if you get a chance. Nonetheless, the photo carries a certain energy and intensity that certainly works very well for this challenge.

Great angle, nice job by revealing a hint of that bandaged foot. Those collars, although essential to healing, seem horrific to me. What those poor dogs must think when one of them is slapped on. Nice job with a photo that nails the challenge.
