I like that the leopard is showing such keen interest in us and the eyes and nose are so clearly portrayed. I also like the colors other than black and white that appear. The bottom of the rear paw invites a full body portrait, yet the depth of field alllows little more than a head and shoulders.

The Game

The Game

Comment:
The blues in the darker chess pieces come off quite well. I like the streaks of light and shadow off reflective surfaces coming from an unseen window. I wonder what rules this game has and wonder what kind of game it is. The depth of field is necessary to keep the pieces and the board in focus, but the wood surface on which the board lays does not have sufficient appeal to support the focus that is placed on it.

I look forward to entering an 180 degree rotated picture soon. Cropping away the pavement would make this even more intriguing. The bricks on the bottom of the reflecting pool superimpose a very interesting texture on the entire scene. and the ripples produce their own wonderful distortions especially on the darker building and the sky. I guess the question is not whether you want your magic explained or not, but rather does the pavement add beauty to the picture or not. For me, the answer is no. An 8.

I guess this is a wall covered and uncovered by ivy. A little less glare off the leaves would help. Polarizing lenses, less aperture, shorter exposure, time of day can all be changed to reduce glare at time of capture. Not much can be done after the pixels have become oversaturated. The colors and lighting on the wall make a very lovely picture. A 5.

This meets the challenge. The composition and colors are very nice This does not look like it was much fun for the children though. A 4.

Beautiful colors. Very nice selection of batteries. The camera looks lovely in the blueish light. The reflected light off the background is just right to define the perimeter of the lens body. The glare off the batteries is a little unfortunate as it obscures the subject of the photo. Another light source below and to the right would have helped with the shadows as well. A smaller aperture and more depth of field would not hurt.

AC DC

The blue background works well as contrast for all of the colors on the edges of the main objects except for the blue on the battery label. The lighting produces glare and dark shadow. The narrow depth of field obscures the near AC terminal and the plus sign on the battery, both part of the story being told. The composition holds very little appeal for me. A 3.

Kind of like the picture of misdriven nails. I like the lighting and the wood in this. Also the dark space in the lower right corner provides good balance.
