Cheater's Habitby mocabelaComment: Great closeup. The DOF is good and the details are well captured. The composition is rather nice, I like the diagonal lines created by the fingers. The sepia choice makes this a more compelling shot - almost like one of those dreamy ring exchange shots from a wedding. |

in the habit of showing up every 17 years, brood X cicadasby coolharComment: Wonderful capture. They look bizarrely plastic - the saturation is lush and the focus is pretty crisp as is the DOF. I like your composition with the diagonal positions of the cicadas and the stem running the full diagonal. The periodicity of the cicadas is hardly a habit, merely their existence, but then again, to me bugs are a photography habit! |

Being A Little Too Adventurousby lizzyc3Comment: An interesting composition. I like the black and white and the curve of the lines. The DOF and focus is good. The background is a little distracting - the ionic breeze, the vote poster, the teddy bear ... they don't feed the subject of the habit depicted. The textures on the wood and the metal contrasted are great. |

Sleeping in Public Placesby StevePaxComment: A nice composition - I like the lines created by the tracks in the sand (they go around the sleeper) and the upright pillars. The b&w choice is interesting. I might have liked an angle that showed the person's face. |

Garage Sale Habitby j8xmanComment: Wonderful subject for this challenge - it captures obsession and history all at once. The POV is a little uninteresting, I wonder if something shot from a lower angle might not provide a better composition, or a more exaggerated one. |

Eye of the treeby crisComment: Greetings from the Critique Club.
Composition: I think the subject of your photo is very compelling, but the framing of it is the weakest part of the photo. Keeping the trunk of the tree off-centered is a great choice, but perhaps an additional off centered line would help (the "eye" is pretty much centered).
Background: The muted and dark greenery is a great background for this piece.
Camera Work: (Focus/DOF/Exposure) The DOF with the mushed leaves is wonderful. The colors and exposure are good, but I think the textures of the eye would be served by a crisper focus.
Post Processing: the in camera exposure is good, there was no need to do any other post except for maybe a more creative crop and better use of positive/negative space.
The Challenge: n/a
My Opinion: I like the colors and textures you found here. I like the subject much better than the execution, but luckily that can be easily remedied, you have a good eye for color and the use of DOF was great. Cropping the top more radically actually gives it more of an "eye" feel because it allows us to imagine an eyebrow.
I hope these comments have been of help to you. Please mark them as helpful if they have, and feel free to PM me if you want to discuss or clarify anything here.

Chocolate chequersby chloe1Comment: Very nice subject and composition. The light is a little harsh and the highlight is a bit distracting. |

Fire On Waterby KlyphtonComment: The use of the blue background is very nice. The flame is exposed well but the double/triple border is a little distracting. The curve of the background is a great composition device. |
