Tell Them To Stop Calling Me Elsie!by kelmatComment: The selective desaturation on this is not really very appealing in my opinion.
I'm sure there was a lot that could have been done in it's normal colors that may have rendered this a much nicer shot. |

Crashingby jan_vdwComment: Hate to be cruel, but this needs some serious help in the post-processing, as the overall tones are far too yellow. In regards to the composition, there are two main focal points - the wave crashing and the upright pole on the left side. A tighter crop so the pier/jetty starts out of the frame would probably have been better so there isn't competition for where my eyes are drawn. The other issue is the noise levels in the sky - affects the overall quality a lot.
If you need help in post-processing or links to tips, tutorials and help, please don't hesitate to PM me during or after the challenge.
I have not voted on this image, but would be in the 3-4 range. |

S M O K Eby pawdrixComment: This has a wonderful retro feel to it.
I'm thinking this was a genuine candid moment caught due to the other people visible in the background, making this even more of an outstanding shot.
One of the first of the small details that caught my eye was his hand gesture - gotta' love that one! |

Sunday Applesby ShecoyaComment: Gotta' love the glasses here.
I'm not casting in this due to partiality, but between us, it's at least an 8, more like a 9
Edit to add:
Meant to say: I'm not casting a vote in this due to partiality ...

Lost in timeby LalliSigComment: If I would venture a guess, I would say this was shot with an 85mm f/1.2 on a Canon 5D
Am I right? Do I know who's this is?
Love the lighting here, and of course the 3-D effect of the shallow depth of field.
Duh - went to quote after the challenge and added my comment as an edit. Message edited by author 2007-06-08 00:35:50. |
