Generally, it's best to have someone looking into the frame, but in this case, the crop and person in the background makes this the exception to the rule. Speaking of exceptions, this is a gem - truly an exceptional shot.

I am having a bit of a struggle accepting this as a true candid, as it really is more about the moment, than the people.

While this is a great photograph, I kind of struggle accepting this as a candid in the true sense. Sports & performances such as musicians, though can be candids, are often more decisive moments and as such, the people in them are in a way, performing, thus in a way, know they are being watched and often photographed. Not necessarily the case here, but is on that fine edge for me. Congrats on a high finish in this challenge, and certainly applaud your timing on this.
