What's Wrong with Black?

A great many choices - all very colorful! Nice lighting - by allowing the main socks to be well lit and the background fade into semi-darkness. Your title "What's wrong with black" makes me think of your border! What's wrong is that it is too heavy and non needed for me. I normally don't subtract points for borders - but I had to think twice on this one.

Or move to California where everything is non-smoking! Nice idea and execution. I wonder how may won't "get" the ashtrays on the rear tables. The thin vertical composition is perfect for the subject - but the tiny triangle top right is a wee bit detracting.

Yeah - I remember those commercials! Good idea - well executed and definitely a choice. With the white in the wrappers - I believe it would hqave worked better with a very dark background.

Decision 2004

It's a good idea - but don't forget the "other" parties! Colors are a bit muted - the blue of the flag seems to be very dark. That causes the donket silhouette to nerge with the flag as there is no (or very little) color separation. It's an original idea and works well for this challenge. I hope our non_US voters recognize the party symbols!

Nice capture of the coin in flight - helping someone make a choice. Black background is perfect for this. Exposure and composition right on. A very minor point is the removal of the whitish spot to the left of the bracelet on the wrist.

Uhh - straight ahead? A straight forward choice - well exposed and presented. I like the hint of blue on the right side of the arrow. It's not terrible exciting though.

Original idea - and no one else thought of this old "classic." I wonder if our non-US voters did the same thing as kids? Colors seem a bit dull or muted - but other than that -it's a well done and effective submission.

A Long Test Ahead

YEp - no one will say you didn't meet the challenge! I do like the way you've handled DoF - but.... think it would be better if the pencil and sharply focused area were at the bottom of the image. If the picture started off sharp - and then fell off going towards the background, it would work better. Having so much blurriness right in the forground is distracting to me. Exposure seems spot on.

What bird should I photograph?

The EGRET! Much more graceful. A good black and white - but I don't particularly like the bird on the left cut in half. Hope you stayed there a while and shot several more. The water has a wonderful texture/pattern.

Aw come on - don't tell me Adam had supersizes! The image itself is very nice - effective advertizing. It's a little unnerving to have the hands "disconnected" - but the black backgrould works well anyhow.
