Santa, I Think It's A Little Bigby OneSweetSinComment: Greetings from the critique club:
At first glance I liked this photo. It has nice bight and vibrant color. The White on the hat against the black back ground was nice.
Does it meet the challenge: I would have to say this is a tough challenge to meet. Humor is a very broad topic. What one person finds funny another might not. I personaly don't find this to be very funny. I do however find it to very cute. I would not however lower my score much do to this. With humor being such a opinion oreiented topic.
Technical aspects: This image is a little soft. I feel it could have been a little crisper an image. I however do realize that with digital camera's most images tend to look a little soft.
Lighting: Pretty good. There are no shadows. I don't feel that any part of it is burnt out very badly. I think a bit more light on the center torso of the kittten might have helped but overall the lighting was good.
Back Ground: I like the black background. I can see no problems with this area of the photo.
Colors: I like the red on the hat. But the rest of the colors are a bit faint. I would like to see some brighter and more defined colors on the kitten. Perhaps this would even give more definition to the rear of the kitten. As is the rear of the cat almost fades into the back ground.
Overall: This is a very good photo. I like the look and feel of the shot. I think that without the few problems I mentioned above it could have been a candiadte for placing pretty high in the challenge and possibly pulled off getting a ribbon. This is a very pretty and imaginative shot. I realy ejoy looking at it keep up the great work.

facing my future by bobdaveantComment: ooh impresive! Is it make-up, photo shop, or a 20yr shutter speed. That is my big question. Creative, meets the challenge, good technical aspect, DoF and such, and I like it. 9 |

Watching Paint Dryby bruskiComment: ok this one is quite funny, with the title added in. Decent shot, creative and comical. However not extremely exciting. (but how exciting is watching paint dry?). Meets the challenge, and is creative. |

Since I Was Lovedby riotspyneComment: hey is there a dog in this picture somewhere I see a nose. I feel this is a "little weak in meeting the challenge. (but it was a tough one to meet). I also feel it is a little over exposed in spots. Overall decent and interesting shot. |

Tender Momentsby crabappl3Comment: Very good photo. I feel it dosn't fit the challenge very well. However I can see your concept on how it could. I feel this is an above average picture by itself. I would like to have seen a few things different however. First a closer match to the challenge. Second a closer crop. The hands are out of focus. I feel the hands for some weird reson make the girl look like a maniquin. I do however feel that if this realy is a maniquin youve got my cudos. Very realistic dummy, or a very maniquin looking girl. No insult intended. However overall a very nice shot. |

I Hope He Shows Upby leteneleComment: great shot. The soft lighting on such a pretty face is wonderfull. I'm not sure if the choice to use "what i'm assuming is" a birch tree was intentional or not. I feel that it works astoundingly well adding its own contrast to the B&W. The eyes are also very bright and well defined drawing me directly to the subject. One of my top picks of the challenge keep up the wonderfull work. |

Innocenceby stephpaxComment: while not an outright breathtaking photo. This is still a very good photo. This is a very crisp shot. It hs decent lighting with the esception of the light that runs along the edge of the face. The child in the photo is smiling and having fun wich is always a plus. Definately above average in quality. Just not excitng IMO.Keep Up the good work. |

A world already in Black and Whiteby orvaratliComment: Im just not impressed with this photo. Perhaps if my monitor was properly calibrated I might see somthing that I missed. I have to agree with one aspect of the photo however. Its is definatly B&W in a modern world. One of the few examples naturaly occuring. Perhaps if the stars were brighter and showed a crisp image of a constalation I was familiar with. This shot would do a lttle better. But as is it's just not exciting to me. |
