To a military family..Yellow means separationby okiesisiComment: Hello okiesisi Sorry I missed you on my little attempt to comment on all of the shots for this challenge. As for the shot. I fully understand the separation that you are portraying in this shot. I was in the military for seveal years and can fully understand the pain and anguish that the military spouse feel when ther loved ones are away.I think your shot may have been hurt a little bit in score for two reasons one Like you stated in your PM just not real exiting. Two you probably lost a little bit from the foreign voters. I doubt that they would have any idea what a yellow ribbon stands for. This was very wel shor none the less. Good color and sharpness. However due to the unexiting objects in the shot I feel you might have done a bit better playing around with gaussian blur, or a pin hole lens. This would have enhanced the shot a bit disguising the mundane aspects, and perhaps enhancing the technical aspects of the shot. I ended up giving this a 4. Solely on the fact that it lacked excitement or interest. On the bright side however as I stated earlier however this was very well shot. |

Over The Wireby ArtanComment: I see the separation that you are trying to convey. I can even understand the use of shadow. I still just don't get a feeling of separation. Perhaps if there had been a person in prison uniform looking towards the top of the wall you would have hooked me. But as is I just am not able to find the story you are trying to tell. |

The Day The Music Diedby pmichaudComment: Awsome shot. I love absolutaly every thing about it. The colors, lighting shadowas, details, it's all so wonderfull. This could easily have been a 9 or a 10. However I just don't get a feel of separation when I look at it. Soto reward for the great shot and to be fair I'll still give you a nice score. Great shot!! |

Separated By Glass -- Thank God!by TommyMoe21Comment: great shot but it is just way to chaotic to work for me. Insides out. lines everywhere hundreds of reflections and a smudged window. Its just two chaotic and busy. I feel this could have been a spectacular shot. However as is its I feel overhelmed. Siplify this a little bit and youve got one heck of a shot. Nice job. |

Relay Baton Exchangeby eaglebeckComment: very nice motion capture. This conveys separation pretty well IMO. There are a nice variety of colors and lines that alow we me enjoy theimage for longer than a moment. I don't however care fore the slant that this taken at. I tryed to tell myself it's an uphill run. But alas I just can't let it fly. Otherwise nice shot should do fairly well in the challenge. |

Parting for a New Lifeby HeavyComment: very elegant and crisp. i feel that this portrays separation well. The colors are and lines are pleasant to look at. I am not sure if I like the flower in the background however. But this is still a strong and enjoyable image. Keep up the nice work. |

Berlin Wall by PanoComment: I very nice pece that tells a story and conveys your message well. I feel thisfeits the challenge well and was beautifly composed. Two things stand out to me in this shot that realy enhance it. The word death softly written on the wall, and the wonderfull details you oicked up on the coblestone road. The only negative thing I can notice on this is the way the person is positioned against the hole in the wall. I feel these two aspects are great yet in this pespective they are overwhelming eachother and making it hard to distigish what the are. I think overlooking that this is an easy contender for a ribbon. With it.. it will be tough yet definately a possibity. Great shot kepp up the nice work. |

Broken Vowsby BudComment: very crip and clean image. The lighting is also very nice. The image seems to be missing somthing for me. The only thing I can think of would be a reason for the separation. I don't know how that could be worked in though. Great shot vith a strong message. 7 |
