The Proverbial Smoking Gunby LittleGreenKatComment: Great idea and good composition. For whatever reason, the smoke looks kind of fake. I am pretty sure it's not. There is a fair amount of grain inthe photo. It could be due to slight under exposure. |

Smoke On The Waterby MWittComment: Nice image. I can feel the sunset. Graduated levels of gray along the hills are very nicely leveled. I would have been able to score it higher if there were a more obvious tie-in to the theme. |

Once Upon A Cloudby JPRComment: Powerful image well captured. Also a risky shot: 1) Not a "feel good" shot which DPC voters tend to prefer; and 2) On the borderline regarding encouraging under age tobacco use. You will lose points with some voters because there's not much smoke. But all that aside, this is one of my top picks this challenge! Well done. A ribbon contender from my perspective. |

The Genieby WobblyLegsComment: I like the fact that this is a more complex image of smoke than some of the other shots. The red of the candel is nice and lends a reality to the shot that some of the others don't have. Well done -- among my top picks. |

The Beauty of Smoke by terjeComment: Very nice. I like the transparency of the smoke. The high contrast against the light background works well. It's a little busy at the top but that's only a minor distraction. Among my top picks. |

Where there's smoke...by MickComment: This is excellent. It seems you have rotated the photo 90 degrres to the right which makes for an interesting composition and creates a greater sense of motion. Good idea and well executed. B&W works well. Virtually perfect capture technically. There is one little wisp of smoke I might have cloned out ... sort of a horizontal one at the top just to right of center ... but it's only a minor distraction. Among my top picks. |

"When All Candles Be Out ..."by e301Comment: Nicely done. Smoke isn't as dramatic as some other shots in the challenge but including the candles and lighting just their tops makes for a stronger composition. Among my top picks. |

68th Durham Light Infantryby FalcComment: I like the action of this shot. Technically good (focus, DOF, color, contrast, composition - although it feels a little bit weighted down on the left). Among my top picks. |

Bulb burner by kiwinessComment: Innovative idea well executed. Background and lighting are superb at highlighting the subject. Contrast works well. Focus and DOf are spot on. Interest ing composition. (10) Wondering how many light bulbs it took to catch the moment? |
