I like several things about this photo: Sharp focus on the subject; Soft focus on the reflected background; Colors; and composition. Nicely conceived and executed.

Very difficult subject with a conventional lens. If you don't have access to a telescope, but are shooting with a DSLR, try putting a teleconverter between your lens and your camera. To my taste, it either needs to be razor sharp, or the frame needs to include something of interest so the moon is only adding context.

I've looked at this photo a few times and tried to like it because I can see myself attempting a similar shot. I think this might have appealed to me more if I could see a hint of detail in the black background. The ornament on the left is very difficult to photograph. There is so much going on, light, reflection, angles, sharp and soft ... that it all runs together for me and my eye can't find a place to rest except the dark, but there's nothing there to hold my interest.

Interesting and unusual clock but, to my taste, not a very interesting or unusual image. Doesn't hold my attention.
