Engine No. 1by daevansComment: Somewhere out west under a wild sky still reside the remnants of a storied past, and this is an excellent evocation of what once was. The dryness and wide open spaces are here too. Also quiet. I like everything about this picture, but think a less centered composition would work better. |

The RR Crossingby LawtonComment: A compelling image of foreground pattern and texture, triangular shape of railroad lines convergence and a compressed horizon of land on the other side of the road, mountains and sky. The overall magenta cast works pretty well. Great use of a wide angle lens. A formidable handling of the entire scene. |

Abandoned on the Side Spurby Bear_MusicComment: Very effective centered composition of this massive, rusting and stolid railroad car with a sense of dignity. The HDR effect is rather strong, but maybe the ominous weather atmosphere can carry it. The train and building corner to the right nicely ground the image and avoid over-isolation. A strong portrait. |

Disappearance of the time traveling train by lei_73Comment: Lovely rhythm of tracks framed within industrial buildings. The mood seems somehow charged with its vapor and reddish coloration. The modest depth of focus is very effective. A very handsome picture. I also like that green note in the mid-lower left. |
