Nature's great masterpieceby ubiqueComment: Artistic take on this elephant in the wild (or so it seems). It's endearing in its delicacy, light pouring over its body from behind. Bold. I only wish its underbelly and hind legs weren't so dark, but I respect the totality of the photographer's vision. As a matter of fact, I'm broadening my own understanding of the elephant by seeing this, so thanks. |

Convergence by CuttoothComment: Man-made objects in landscapes can be problematic, but here they superbly complement an already beautiful, well, seascape. What's magical is that the boats appear to be afloat in the reflected sky, with the sea floor vegetation seeming to be atmospheric too. Also well-illustrated is the rule of thirds. While the image seems to be heavier on the left, the lines of the boats and posts gently lead the eye to the brighter orange horizon on the right, establishing an overall balance. Fine stuff. |

Llyn Cauby rooumComment: This is beautiful. An intricate combination of subtle blues and greens, reflected patterns and psychological probing. Stunning as both image and design. Imposing and delicate. Favorite in this challenge and beyond. |

watching movies with the sound offby PennyStreetComment: An urban landscape. Is this Bryant Park in Manhattan, behind the 42nd St. Main Library? Though I could be way off. It feels doleful, like an absence of nature, but I think that's just personal subjectivity. I like the smorgasbord of tones and the contrast between the sodded lawn and the fussily rectilinear bank of buildings in the background. |
