The Origin of Symmetry as a Construct of the Bicameral Brain

Comment:
Fine illustration of the multiple universes theory. Very attractive depth of field. Several mugs of this and the bicameral brain will be on the wane.

Very pretty capture. Those translucent feathers make a lovely effect.

Nice approximate symmetry, which is fine. What if the people were to be cut off at about the waist to isolate the symmetry and forego the busy background? Just a thought.

Crisp and ominous, nice spread of tones contrasting those regimented in the structure and those swirling in the sky.

It's busy, but packs in tons of various and interesting symmetries. The fun is in searching them out. The woman ascending the staircase is the perfect asymmetrical finishing touch.

Beautifully done flower image that uses monotone to allow the symmetry to come into its own. The petals serve as backdrop for the inner delicacy (stamens, etc.). The idea of color is subtly inherent since we all know about flowers.

Intimate and endearing. Their looks are so direct. A lovely moment and an honor to be there to photograph it. Unlike a bird guide, this speaks volumes. Thank you for sharing this beautiful shot.

Yes, it's charmingly symmetrical, but what I most appreciate here is the pastel, old-fashioned feel. The slightly threatening atmosphere adds to a mood that I can't quite put my finger on. Nostalgia? Fairy tale illusion of innocent times? Gothic foreboding? Anyway, I'm enjoying lingering over it.

Comment:
Fire escapes are inherently picturesque, all spidery symmetry and intricate shadows. This is a very nice study, sensitively rendered in monotone. The brickwork shines through and we even get hints of the apartments within. So several layers of symmetry are pleasingly presented.
