I can see why you were attracted to this subject matter. A lovely collection of textures and as found objects. I particularly like how you ended the story with a boy gazing at us through a reflection in the mirror. Maybe we just followed him around while he studied all the wreckage. It's certainly visual stimulating and makes a fine essay.

This is so exotic to me. We have zoos here, which have there purpose, but they are sad environments for viewing animals. It's amazing how close you have gotten to these creatures in what appears to be a natural environment. I also like the commentary you've included with each image. Tidbits of knowledge and observations. A fascinating animal and a well told story.

I'm getting around to commenting on your series a little late and many have already stated my impressions. This is a terrific series and your titles add some personality and guidance. I'm a sucker for shadows, especially when done well! Thanks

Clive, this is a beautiful collection of images and a fascinating topic. I like your consistency in processing and the blurry vignette works well. I also enjoy how you've included images that aren't of the path but more peripheral views from the travelers wondering eye. I'm usually not a fan of placing text on images but you've done a very nice job of keeping it simple. The Macfarlane quote is beautiful. I could see this series hanging in a gallery. Thanks for your inspiration.

These are very personal images. As an outsider, I'm full wonder about the people who have been photographed. The overlays add complexity and begs the viewer to compose and resolve relationships and place. It's easy to get lost looking at these and there is no reconciliation, just more questions. Qualities that I find attractive in creative work.

The second image of the man in the fedora hat is my favorite of the group. He reminds me of a Duane Hanson sculpture. I remember the first time my wife saw one of his creations. We were walking through a museum and she wasn't that interested. Confronted by one of his sculptures, thinking it was an actual person, she said "now that's art." That's my feeling about this photograph. Several others are also excellent but this one stays with me.

I'd like to see you narrow your story a little and focus on more than gender. Something about a common interest, posture, age, dress, class, etc. The possibilities are endless.

Sarah, this is terrific! Your travels take you to exotic and delightful places.

With this essay you've taken me to a place I know nothing about and will probably never have the opportunity to see. For me, you included just enough information without being redundant. This is a careful balance that's difficult to achieve in a photo essay. Your photographs are beautiful and genuine. By this, I mean no tricks or gimmicks were used to make this something it's not. With a subject like this why would you want to. Thanks

WTF Paul? This is quite the story and I want to believe it̢۪s all true. I hope the Swaziland police come knocking at my door inquiring on your whereabouts. I̢۪ll probably ask them more questions about this mysterious photographer than they ask me. Your low fidelity images, as you call them, are a treat without this additional layer you created. The photographer with a conscious takes this to another level. A very enjoyable essay that makes this whole exercise worth the effort. Thank you.
