Don't forget to stop and smell the flowers by vawendyComment: Then I thought about putting it in a container. Though when the container fell over, it startled him, an I think he went to the bathroom on the railing... It was all wet, and there was no water in the vase!
I'm looking up the number for PETA in Va. This abuse of our bushy tailed friends must be put to a stop.
Beautiful framing and editing on this one, grats. Another ( yawn) blue. |

tickle me.....by danieletagliabueComment: To me this is a fun holiday shot. It looks like it captured a spontaneous moment worth keeping hold of. It does not look like a rigorously thought out, carefully executed and edited work. I do not see a "brilliant idea", and I am glad that the ten people who finished below you did not also rail against the score that their entry received.
If you like the image and a few others did as well, that ought to be enough. If you want to hear what others think of it, then enter it into competition. However don't be offended by all their impressions of your work; and railing against a commenter who didn't like your work, but had the guts to tell you why is not going to help.
IMHO you didn't really deserve the ones, nor did you deserve the tens. No one likes ones, and seven of them hurt. I got seven ones on a shot that I thought was spot on the challenge (finished fifth anyway) and no one who hated it had the guts to say what they hated about it. I would have liked to know why. Reject or accept negative reactions as you will, but if you want to score better you need to hear them out. |

Ghost Countryby AmmieComment: This has a great open feel, I just wish it were a touch sharper to pop that front ridge. Top ten |

Impending Collisionby DennisheckmanComment: An amazing cloud capture, I just wish you had shot a bit wider to bring in some foreground. Beautifull capture, top ten. |

And it flies!!by jjbeguinComment: The skin tones you got out of this are amazing, just perfect light. The expressions are very good, my only knock is I wish you were a bit to your left to separate the faces of the four on the left a bit more, though it would cramp the fellow on the right. Never the less top marks, and a great take on fireworks. |

New York City Skylineby IAmEliKatzComment: A classic view (and not the only version of this iconic skyline in this challenge) and Im torn on the processing. On one hand I like the candy colored old timey postcard feel, but it looses some of the depth in the image. The brig's fore mast is almost lost against the buildings, and the towers that make up the skyline are flattened out, and the yellow on the building on the left is jarring against the overall blue tone. If you had brought up the black point, it might separate the two tones a bit more.
I know it sounds like Im picking on the image, but I really like it and given the direction you went, I think it works. Top five |

Soybean Splendorby giantmikeComment: Not the most impressive skyline, but you made the most of it. Very deft handling of a huge DOF and radical contrast issues to make a pleasing densely texture shot. |

Skyline to Paradiseby BrianRComment: Looks a bit too aggressive with the tone mapping or shadow repair, you have lost a bit too much contrast. I like the processional quality of the people juxtaposed with the lamp posts in the same arc. |
