To me, it looks like he's looking at the water directly in front of him... warping our sense of spacial order in the image. Looks like he wants to reach out and touch the water. |

goodbyeby tangueraComment: I agree with some of the other comments. It is a touching image, but only once you understand the story behind it. I thought she was trying to wash a garment or something. The ash cloud only looked like sea spray. Maybe a telephoto could have given us a better picture of what was going on? Glad I read the caption. |
