Old abandoned boatby JarHeadComment: framing/positioning is what makes or breaks images in a challenge like this. i feel there is a bit too much superfluous environment in this shot. changing perspective and keeping excess items to a minimum would help |

left to burn out in key westby FourPointXComment: not getting the abandoned feeling here. sorry.
i'm guessing this image is intended as a visual commentary on the first step of quitting smoking, but that's not abandonment to me, it's freedom. |

The Old Barnby goinskiingComment: WAY too much foreground for my taste - this has been happening in a lot of entries in this challenge, seemingly to get the shot of an old building.
getting closer and using a wider angle lens would've been great, or even just 'cutting the grass' before you resize, to keep the majority of the photo (2/3 or so, instead of the existing image at 1/3) focused on the building - your focus. |

Nellieby HawkinsTComment: elephants always look so sad, it's like they know what we (as a species) did to them.
great use of avoiding superflous environment in this picture. |

Left Behindby MargaretNetComment: very 'pretty' scene, i imagine this is going to score well into the 6's.
the dock has definitely seen it's better days. good find. |

Early Retirementby Judy-AComment: definitely fits the theme, but the OoF foreground plants take away from this in my opinion.
i like the boat by the vertical logs and the power plant/factory in the background - it creates a nice scene |

No More Laughterby jagarComment: old, sure, but i don't get the feeling of abandoned from this - the windows look in decent shape and the door appears solidly functional.
this house certainly has a lot of character. |

Old Sheepfoldby gyabanComment: i like the comparative scene between the buildings and mountains, and it's definitely on theme. not as big a fan of the B&W as is, i'd have to compare to color to know for sure |

Abandoned DPby BenstedComment: feel this image needs more of a sense of environment. can't exactly make out where this is supposed to be, and even then the whole image is a little too fuzzy - the bear, which is your focal point, is only partially in focus. detracts some from the image |
