This could have been a lot sharper if you had enough light to use a much faster shutter speed. It looks like it could have been a controlled environment. Usually when you are shooting a macro you want as much light as you can get, often you will need a flash or a continuos light or at a least a reflector to get light in the right places.

Doesn't look like something you'd want to brush up against while you were walking for sure.
I think the photo could have been a little easier on the eyes without the amount of sharpening that was applied to it. The chaotic composition combined with the over sharpening make it hard to look at in my opinion.

I think this could have been improved with a cleaner surface to set the rubber bands on. I would also have used a smaller aperture for a bit more depth of field, to include the closest part of the first bundle. This looks like a controlled environment, so there's no reason not to have the camera on a tripod of some sort and use the lowest light-gathering settings and control the light level.

I don't think having 99% of the image out of focus and colored in dull tones is doing this photo any favors. Some more sharpness on the in-focus subject at the bottom would also help. If you would have angled the camera parallel to the leg (if that's what you call it), the whole thing would have been in focus and you could have kept the bokeh in the background and made it look like less of an accident for lack of a better word.

I like the shapes in this one and the grain. If you added it in post, well done, and if not, good call to skip the noise reduction. This could make a good framed print with a simple mat and frame. I would recommend cloning out the smudges near the top center and above the bottom swirl.
