Autumn colors in Icelandby BennihComment: What, you don't have aurora borealis all day too? just kidding..
Nicely done with the exposure here, the sharp contrasty rocks, colored foliage and waterfalls create all kinds of drama and the softness in the water and the clouds keep it all balanced. |

Dial M for Murderby MinsoPhotoComment: Excellent, classic scene and well lit, good processing and the negative space actually improves it for this one. I like the fingerprints on the back of the desk too. |

Golden Shoreby AmmieComment: It sure is. Nice tones and very sharp, but I think it could have been improved by getting closer to the beach and just including the bold shapes created by the sun's reflections in part of the sand (if it still reflected at that lower angle). I don't feel like the foliage in the foreground adds anything here. |

Alpine Autumn at the Lakeby hahn23Comment: Beautiful, punchy colors and I like the bit of detail still visible at the bottom of the lake. Looks like a wonderful place to spend time.
The composition feels a little cramped with the crop so close to that rock on the left edge, but I have a feeling it was cropped to remove something else that would have distracted more. Might have been avoidable by re-positioning in any case. |

Fleetingby essayComment: Nicely composed - so many layers both vertical and horizontal in this scene and they all play nicely together. |

World War II Memorialby snsComment: This looks like one of those tough-to-represent-with-a-photo scenes. Usually a newspaper photo would rely on a human element, but failing that a frame-filling, simple but carefully composed photo would probably represent it better than a wide angle view like this.
As it is, all the elements of interest (the fountain, the structure, and especially the pillars with inscriptions and wreaths) are small but we have tons of space taken up by the tiles on the ground and the dark but cloudy, somewhat light-polluted, starless sky. |
