The Islandby james_soComment: Hope ahead!
The burn on the right hand side of the image gives the feeling of a crooked horizon and makes me tilt my head slightly. Details .... |

Coldby scooter88Comment: Solid, desolate image. Did you try it in B&W? I like the tonality very much though. Only that the line of the horizon reverses the perspective in which case a crop of the sky above would be beneficial. |

wave..shell......gullby bspurgeonComment: You got at a perfect point with these images! The gull seems huge, almost the size of a horse but I love it because it gives me some solid ground somewhere and I am not sucked by the ruthless vortex created by the shell. |

The Ark by gyabanComment: Unmistakably Etretat! The arch looking as if it's made of papier mache newspapers, almost weightless and barely casting a shadow. Beautiful. |

Waste Landby RKTComment: Such a graphically interesting image! I wished that the sky lost its color completely. Did you try B&W? 7 |

Welcome guestsby jjbeguinComment: Just realized that I am never surprised where my images get in the final counting of marks, but I am truly stunned by the lack of response to this spectacular image during the voting. It's as close to what one could call a "flawless" image from a lot of points of view.
The discrepancy between the average marks given by commentators and participants is staggering.
Perhaps the true mark of a great image (piece of art) is not being recognized as such immediately.
Does the majority appreciate mostly the familiar, the nonthreatening, the technically solid work? A question as old as the world.
I had 5 images on my first page and none was among the 10 most admired pictures. |

turn to tellby smardazComment: You chose well this image over the outtake. Powerful and ruthless. |
