Let the Lion Sleepby markwileyComment: Reminds me of one of my very first DPC submissions. Of course, this one is like 800% more compelling than that one was! |

Painshillby DistantColoursComment: Very painterly. I get a palpable sense of calm viewing this. Would make a great large-format print for a home office. |

Aussie Pelicanby JulietNNComment: Love this photo. It's definitely effective as a study in foreground interest, and the level of detail and color balance is incredible. My one reservation has to do with the way the bird registers in "uncanny valley" territory--as if it had been dropped in from another place where the lighting is different from the rest of this composition. I'm assuming that was an artistic choice. Still weighing its effectiveness for me. Will return to vote later. :-) |

Magnifying Pencilsby DistantColoursComment: Thought for sure this would be a top three this challenge! It was probably my personal favorite. Artistically bold and practically useful, too. I love stuff like that. :-) |

The Road Homeby skewsmeComment: What a painterly interpretation of this scene. Those horses on the horizon, when they register, are like a gentle period on the end of an eloquent sentence here. :-) |

I can see clearly now ... gonna be a bright, bright, sun shiny day!by glad2badadComment: This is a lovely photo and a striking composition. I'm not sure I would call it "foreground interest," though. To me, the horizon registers much more immediately as the compelling focal point. Which is not a criticism of the photo--only an explanation for why it's a teensy bit lower for me than some others in this challenge. |

Amazed by AmmieComment: If the last shot was a yellow, this is surely a blue. This feels like a still from a documentary film. You've perfectly captured not only a striking visual composition here, but one that miraculously encapsulates the sense of awe that its foregrounded subject is experiencing. Bravo. |
