Emerald Eyesby fldaveComment: Meets Challenge: 3 of 3.
Technical: 2 of 3. Thanks for keeping this in color. I looks, though, like the nose is the focus point and the eye is *just* out of focus. Shame. Otherwise good.
Emotion: 2 of 3. Of the cats I've seen so far (still less than 20% through voting), this is probably my favorite. I'm not really a cat person, but this one seems like a very nice one to have around.

Goodnight Oakby LongfistComment: Meets Challenge: 2 of 3. A little too much like a low exposure shot. I think of low key as using the highlights to show key features of the subject and letting the mind do the rest. That's not what this is doing.
Technical: 2 of 3. The vignetting is probably natural in this shot (I assume there's a bright city in the distance), but it's a little hard for me. And the lighting you used is really bright on one part of the fence drawing my eye away from the tree (which I assume is your intended subject).
Emotion: 2 of 3. I never had "a tree" I would visit when I was a kid, but I always wanted one. I bet this worked well for you (or whoever owns this land). This time of night would have been perfect for stealing a kiss.

Black Inkby kingskingdomComment: Meets Challenge: 3 of 3. Wish there was a tad less light illuminating her face, but that's fine.
Technical: 2 of 3. Good crop, good lighting. I really don't like what looks like ultra-blur on her face. It doesn't look natural, and it doesn't match her arm.
Emotion: 1 of 3. I know it's a posed shot, I just wish it didn't feel so much like one. Her face is kinda lifeless. Wish she had a glint in her eye, or an expression in her lips.

Midnight Walkby escapetoozComment: Meets Challenge: 3 of 3. Well done.
Technical: 3 of 3. Can't find a thing wrong here. Curious as to what the light is that the front person is holding. It it's a flashlight, it might have been neat to shine it one the ground in front.
Emotion: 2 of 3. Reminds me of my trip to Carlsbad when I was a kid. I wish I could see their eyes somehow to tell me if they are enjoying things as much as I remembered (even if this isn't Carlsbad).

Imperfectby okiesisiComment: Meets Challenge: 3 of 3.
Technical: 2 of 3. Maybe a slightly tighter crop? And maybe sharper focus?
Emotion: 1 of 3. Eh... I'd like some more... I dunno... There's nothing pulling me into the image, keeping me interested.

Gass Maskby mathew17986gComment: Meets Challenge: 3 of 3. The blue corner is a bit bright, but it's fine.
Technical: 2 of 3. I wish the rear hand was either more visible or not at all. Just those two finger tips is slightly distracting. The DoF is good and I like the lighting.
Emotion: 2 of 3. Makes me think of all the recent riots. The hand up close really gives a sense of action and stress.

Candyby bcrantsComment: Meets Challenge: 1 of 3. I don't think this is lowkey. At least, not enough for me. I'd have preferred some highlights of key features of the dog, not a full-on face in full light.
Technical: 2 of 3. Good focus and color, but there's a lot of empty space to the right. Maybe a little less.
Emotion: 1 of 3. It's a cute dog, but this shot's not saying anything to me. There's no action, no struggle, no interest.

Beckyby davidwComment: Meets Challenge: 3 of 3.
Technical: 3 of 3. Excellent use of bright backlight and soft side light. Is the side light a different source, or is it a reflector from the back?
Emotion: 3 of 3. There's wisdom in her eyes. I hope she has someone to share it with.

This is a really great shot. Not awe inspiring, but great none-the-less. |

Seen it all.by sfaliceComment: Meets Challenge: 3 of 3.
Technical: 1 of 3. The crop is good, but the graininess in the black is ruining it for me. I know in real life that cat is sleek and smooth and awesome, but here she looks like she's been attacked by a blackboard eraser. Maybe a lower film speed and a longer exposure? Tough with live subjects, I know...
Emotion: 2 of 3. That's a very cool cat. The shadows of her eyelids in her eyes make it look like she very distrustful of whatever she's looking at.

Old Roseby acg83Comment: Meets Challenge: 3 of 3.
Technical: 2 of 3. Something about those leaves in the background distract me, and I'd prefer it was a closer crop so I can see more detail.
Emotion: 2 of 3. I'm reminded of high school when the girls would hang roses upside down to save them, and of my wedding where my wife had her bouquet preserved. Those were good times, so thanks for reminding me of them.
