My back yardby pjotre7Comment: Good B&W Conversion here. Overall the shot is pretty mundane without much interest... the flat field leading to a distant brush edge reveails no interesting land shapes or objects. One compositional rule to think about is the rule of thirds. Here your horizon line is at about the halfway mark in the photo. Try using one of the thirds to line up the horizon, either the top or bottom. Also the tree on the left doesn't really frame anything. If you could get that in the shot in one of left most third then that would add some interest. I have a nice link to some articles on composition that have helped me out... //photoinf.com |

Trees and Skyby nickybComment: Great job shooting for the sunset sky! In doing so the details of the remainder of the photo are lost. Some things that I see to improve upon are getting that horizon line in the bottom third, it is a little lower than that right now. Also there is no foreground or mid ground here, it's all background. |

Southern Comfortby tfarrell23Comment: Looks like a label for a bottle of whiskey! Would like to see an outtake in a sepia tone as well. Nice use of the rule of thirds to get the mill framed well while still adding the stream. With the use of slow shutter speed you managed to turn this into a more dynamic scene showing the movement of the stream. It kind of gets brighter into the background of the image while it is somewhat dark in the foreground... I'd like to see a more even exposure throughout the scene. Perhaps the wat to do that would be to frame it so that the sky is cut from the scene. Overall a very good landscape image. |

Verdugosby dtallaksonComment: Very good technical elements here with a strong shape compositionally, excellent textures with the grasses and good lighting giving depth. What's missing in this particular view is some layers (i.e. foreground, midground, background). I know the flowers are in the foreground but they just do not stand out enough against the grasses. It needs a tall object or something else to help it out. |

Looking Past the Back 40.by kashiComment: You did good with the black and white conversion. You also have many good textures shown with the leaves. There is little to be desired compositionally and that is where you would add the most interest. A very good exposure of the whole scene in the foreground leaves the sky over exposed and plain white. I would have framed it out of the picture and left very little in if you wanted the tree tops shown. |
