He just turned 20by NeuferlandComment: Good concept, I feel the composition could have been stronger. The poles in the back are distracting; a shallower DOF would have helped reduce their prominince in the frame. The shadow on the stong also makes it harder to read than some of the ones in the background. |

Arlington-Fallenby blemtComment: Very impressive. The double-meaning of the title is not lost on me. This might be your second-best shot from Thursday! |

New Photographerby scalvertComment: That is an outstanding photograph of your daughter. She looks very intent, and very contemplative. Kids have amazing creativity, and I look forward to seeing what she comes up with! |

Mangled Fire Escapeby jmleliiComment: Jeremy, this is outstanding. As you noted, the lighting is perfect. I love the muted color and the flow of the lines through this image. |

Soft Senuferetby MambeComment: Photographs of pets are always a tough sell on DPChallenge, and tend not to score well unless they are done exceptionally well. I believe this photograph is done very well, perhaps my only suggestion would be that I would have like to see this shot with an aperture 1 stop smaller to pick up a little more sharpness on the whiskers. Fishing at Lynn Creek Parkby annasenseComment: This is a good travel guide photo, my only complaint is that the blues seem a bit heavily boosted to me, perhaps as the result of an overly aggressive polarizer? The play of the trees and the shape of the lake provide a strong composition. Given this was an advanced editing challenge I might have cloned out the sign in the water, also a slight sharpen after resizing would probably be beneficial here as well. |

Black Metal Macrosby annasenseComment: I like the concept you were going for in this entry, but I feel the execution is not quite as strong as it could have been. The falloff of the bright light toward the right side pulls the eye away from your foreground. Had the light completely filled the background I believe this entry would have been stronger. Also, as others have mentioned the DOF could probably benefit from being a bit deeper... the blurred wire on the right side is a bit distracting. That said, this is a strong concept and may be worth reshooting with those details in mind. |

Still Full of Life!by annasenseComment: Happy belated birthday! Looks like I'm almost 6 months older than you! This would make for a good product/card shot. Normally the items reflected in the baloon would bother me but given that this was a "Mirrors" challenge they are necessary and relevant to the challenge. |

We Didn't Start the Fireby annasenseComment: Good capture of a sad event. Black and white was an excellent choice for this and gives a newpaper feel. For an alternative composition, try cropping just above where the wind carries the smoke to the left, and just to the left of where it turns up. It might make for an interesting alternative. |
