Dreamy Lightsby jonasvalComment: This looks too fake; a somewhat more subtle use of NeatImage and saturation may have produced a ribbon contender. |

Despair & Lonelinessby glad2badadComment: The smooth tones of the girl's face compete with the specks on the window. Either adding noise to the entire image or cloning out the grit on the glass would have improved the image. The way that her nose lines up with the corner of the window makes the image feel somewhat off-balance. |

Dangerous & Littleby bobdaveantComment: Despondent & Looking might have been a stronger title. The composition seems to over-emphasize the hat. |

Dark & Lightby HornOUBetComment: This scene is too busy, yet has relatively little to look at. Increasing the contrast and cloning out the power lines and possibly some of the branches would have improved this photograph. |

A most literal interpretationby DemonLlamaComment: A narrower DoF would have helped the composition. If your need for an update button compels you to these lengths, you should probably consider finding a support group. |

Day Lightby biggood53Comment: I like the complementary textures of the sky and sea, but this image suffers from the lack of a focal point. A silhouette of a rock or a boat just below the horizon would have given me a welcome place for my eyes to alight while it appreciates the scene. |

Dark & Light Self Portraitby tsheetsComment: As a portrait, this would be much stronger if you reacted to the camera's presence somehow; making eye contact with the lens heightens the lack of emotional involvement in the scene. The angle and illumination on the face are misaligned just enough to be distracting. |

Dread & Laughterby p2jvrComment: The (mostly) horizontal lines are very distracting, particularly since they cut through the only person who's trying to attract attention to himself. I think that you may have been better off cloning out the offending bar, even if it also required removing the person. |

D&L - Denim & Laceby Mary Ann MeltonComment: This appears to be slightly out of focus. The shot would be more interesting if the depicted items were being modeled by someone. I would have preferred a macro shot of the two fabrics to this. |
