Two Worldsby sfaliceComment: This image might have been better suited to the concurrently running challenge "Light II" much like the reviewer's own entry. Still, an appreciation of abstract photography is appreciated and this is a good example of the genre. The complimentry colors, pleasing and gentle curves and the not so subtle diffences in shape make a very effective presentation. While it can be viewed as outside the challenge criteria, in another way it does meet the challenge. |

Into the abyssby IreneMComment: This image has been viewed four times and it's always been with the same result - the large dark drop in the foreground is annoying - as in very annoying - and it ruins what is otherwise a terrific concept and construction. Perhaps it's the odd shape or the fact that it just seems out of place, it does negatively impact the image. Still, it's a great effort and works well as a challenge entry. |

Still Morning his Lost Loveby kaiser_chiefComment: The double exposure effect is something that can be improperly used, but this image demonstrates it's use to compliment the deep and rich detail and tones. A non-standard look at a difficult time in a life. Dramatic and effective. Well done. |

Star Trailsby rio78Comment: Properly exposed, vague detail and an interesting subject, this subtle image of astrophotography is a simple example of how to use complex composing and exposure skills to produce a very effective image. A worthy entry into the challenge. Well done. |

inner darknessby apercepComment: An alternate title title might have been "Alex's World" as this image is very strongly in homage to the title poster shot of Kubrick's "A Clockwork Orange". Very effective, forbidding and pensive, a terrific example of how a photographer can convey an idea of menace efficiently and effectively. Well done. |

Darkness under the Bridgeby pumaComment: Very scifi in construction, and even with the slightly off center perspective, this is an amazing image and one that sould garner a very high score. Meeting the challenge in a very different and unique way, this image is technically perfect in every aspect and artistically powerful. Congratultaions on producing a different and unique image meeting the challenge criteria perfectly. |

Into the darkness, through the garden of good and evilby purpleflutterby13Comment: Renaissance artists studied perspective, or the differences in the way things look when they are close to something or far away. The artists painted in a way that showed these differences which, as a by product, showed depth and dimension. One of the more interesting aspect of this period was the expression of the not real being real. This is as good a demonstration of these concepts as this reviewer has ever seen. Incredible and effective - a technical and artistic demonstration of the power of photography as art. A standing O. |

fin du jourby Ecce_SignumComment: Not sure if this was intentional or not, but there was a French film titled "La fine du jour" written and directed by Julien Duvivier who was a contemporary of Jean Renoir (two of the French "big five" cinema directors). This movie was about aging and past glories essentially and this image reflects that concept very well. The offset works, the DOF works, everything works and is almost an homage to one of Duvivier's finest films. Well done. |
