HotAirBalloons.3.jpgby RayEthierComment: When I opened this at first glance I thought that was an actual eagle sitting on something watching the balloons, and couldn't figure out why I couldn't see what it was sitting on!
This is a great shot of all the strange and unusual balloons against the warm sky, then the serene looking fishing village along the bottom. |

Out on a Limbby RayEthierComment: I'm with the others on this one, I love the negative space too, it gives a nice impression of the freedom I have always felt that birds have! |

IMG_6950adjusted.jpgby RayEthierComment: That's so funny, when I first looked at this I thought it looked European as well, my initial impression was Amsterdam but only after I spotted the sign on the top of the building did I realise it wasn't. Then I saw roz's comment, how funny. |

IMG_5874adjusted.jpgby RayEthierComment: This is really nice, and I agree with roz, the soft background is great and makes a perfect backdrop for the bird. |

Mystery...by PixlmakerComment: You have an excellent collection of portraits, it was hard to just settle on one to comment on but in the end I came to this one.
It's such an interesting portrait, obviously your lighting has a lot to do with that, but also the angle and the expression on your models face. They all combine nicely into make a "story" that leaves me wondering what's going on.

Bridge Over Not So Troubled Waterby TerComment: I see Melbourne has been having the same weather as Sydney lately!
I think those clouds have provided you with a flat light that's let you down a little. I see some of the comments say it's let down by the composition, but I'm not so sure. I think with some good shadows in there it would become instantly much more interesting! |

sunrise in GOAby prashant_168Comment: I chose this shot to comment on because I got married in Goa a couple of years back after spending 6 weeks working in Chennai :)
The light in this shot reminded me of the place we stayed in Goa, it's a great warm colour and this shot brings back memories of sitting having dinner by the water just after sunset.
On the shot itself, I like the silhouette of the tree, and as mentioned the colour, but I agree with the others in that the centred composition lets it down a little.
I can't tell if those background trees are blurred in processing or or it's a natural effect of fog / light, but either way, it suits the shot nicely. |

Kiasmaby salmiakkiComment: I opened this shot and thought, "that's a really interesting example of leading lines", and of course then I noticed what challenge it had been entered into, guess you hit the mark!
It's surprising to see this didn't score 6+, especially with the obvious relevance to the challenge. It's a really interesting shot and the inclusion of the two people sets it off nicely. |

A Whiter Shade of Paleby salmiakkiComment: It was the title that actually made me open this shot up, I've had endless discussions with various people about the meaning of that song! But I digress.
This is a great shot for the challenge, and no surprise at all that it made top ten. It's got wonderful colours (or lack of) but what makes this shot for me is actually the green area, with what seems to be a white webbing all over it. It's almost as if the green area is "trying" to fit in with the rest of the shot! |

Into the Woodsby salmiakkiComment: Having looked at this for a bit I think people suspected a PS filter because you seem to have 2 layers here, the sharp background one then the more blurred foreground one.
This image reminds me a lot of your other similar shot "Autumn Impressions", which when I came to your profile was the first one that jumped out at me, but when I went to comment on that I discovered I already had :)
This is another great example of that style of shot, what I particularly like about this one is the solid grey trees amidst all that rushing green! |
