The background was probably black, but the lighting made it brownish. Maybe a little adjustment with brightness and contrast would have helped the image out in my opinion. Lots of black, but too much color in it for me.

I can't tell if the dress and flower were originally black or if this was from photoshop (or whatever). It appears to be converted to black and white. I think the image is nice. I would have liked to have seen the flower in the bottom right of the image though.

Interesting photo. I don't know what to think about the white lines...rain. I would like to know your explanation of how this fits. Maybe I would bump the score up if it made sense to me. I can see that the two figures are mostly shadow, but the light on the rain doesn't fit to me. Also the figure on the left is wearing a striped shirt that does not appear to be black, so it seems like the processing made the images black and not the subject itself...
