The lighting is a bit harsh. It looks like there's a flash on the camera fired straight at him/her. Getting it to one of the sides helps alot, if that's not possible you could try and hold a white paper a few inches in front of the flashhead to spread the light a bit more. Photographing pets is very tricky, but you have taken a good photo of your dog anyway.
