This image has caused me to stop and pay attention. That means it is in my 7-10 voting band. (Voted earlier)

Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.

This is one of my 9s - I like it a lot. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:

1. Despite the portable device, it feels old fashioned, like a step back in time.
2. I really enjoy the high contrast.
3. I like the absence of true verticals - I normally hate such skewness, but here it contributes to authenticity.
4. The ambiguity of the context - some for of gathering, but we are left guessing.
5. The clarity of the girl, standing out from the slight blurring of the rest of the scene.

An image full of human interest.

This is one of my 8s - I like it. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:

1. Magical light - I like how you haven't pulled back the highlights, it feels as if this is how our eyes would see the scene.

2. Eclectic composition - the inclusion of the trees communicates a sense of 'canopy', connecting us to the scene.

3. The sense of family.

4. The gaze of the primary subject - this creates a good deal of ambiguity in terms of him and his relationship with the photographer (and thus viewer).

Overall, very well made.

1. Stunningly powerful. Every bit a portrait despite being shot from behind.

2. Backlighting of the neck offers great emphasis.

3. Standout bokeh.

4. Wonderful light.

5. Perfect tones.

Overall, brilliantly executed and presented.

1. Made me start humming The Cure's 'Love Cats'. "Into the sea, you and me..."

2. Great use of perspective.

3. Lovely conversion.

4. The inclusion of the bird top left offer wonderful visual resonance given your title.

5. The slightly graininess of the sky.

6. The bare legs despite the seemingly grey sky.

7. The Britishness of the scene.

Overall, a perfect summer moment.

1. Bold. Feels thoughtful. I know that you knew this would get hammered. I like that you believed in it.

2. The low contrast works for me - it pushes me out of the scene, I can see but can't be seen - the effect is one of making the viewer a ghost.

3. The every-day casualness of the scene, adding oodles of authenticity.

Overall, purposefully understated in a way that brings its own effectiveness.

1. A high happy quotient - this made me smile.

2. The intersecting ripples forming their own arc of circles.

3. The look of concentration.

4. The sense of a warm evening.

5. The prominent but complementary tone-mapped look.

Overall, very enjoyable.
