lady in motionby bvyComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I'm now in the unusual position of knowing whose image this is - I would never have guessed! Although the figure is great (I'll come to that) - it's the background that I find compelling - the curve of the blur has the axis of rotation behind the camera, so I'm guessing some of the blur is down to your rotation. This coupled with her running gives a real swoosh - this would work in a 'Nike' challenge ;-) I really like how some details remain, the fingers and the profile of her face.
Critical stuff: I like that it's in colour but I'm not keen on the colour it is in. I get the sense it is manipulated. Apologies if it isn't (though I'd still rotate the hue).
Overall: A very full and rich image. I like that. Message edited by author 2012-11-09 13:18:06. |

moon in the manby posthumousComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Smooth blur but with a great sense of texture too - that works. The subtle coloration is effective too - I hope you try that more often. The double mouth makes the image - it acts as an anchor to the rest of your face - otherwise there's a sense it may float away like a moonward weather balloon.
Critical stuff: Not really
Overall: Effective - ghostly without being creepy. Message edited by author 2012-11-09 13:35:23. |

birthby MinsoPhotoComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: An extreme image for sure, but one that I like. Conjures up images of serial killer resurrection (works for me!) I like how you've embraced the block shadows and blown highlight - others less brave would have sought to bring those areas of the image into the fold. I really like the dead space above too - it leave room for the reanimated character to fill.
Critical stuff: Not sure on that mark toward the top of the right edge.
Overall: Bold and effective. Message edited by author 2012-11-09 13:40:08. |

Sort it outby herfotomanComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Great scene, wonderful sky. The isolation of the benches is palpable (as benches often are). As our eyes settle on this scene, our curious brain becomes aware that they are pointing this way and the urge to turn around and see the view behind us, the raison d'être for the benches is very strong indeed.
Critical stuff: I do like the processing - its the sort of thing I would do myself but I think it is a bit overplayed - a more subtlety toned image may have been quieter but more powerful.
Overall: I really like it - I just wonder how it might look with a little less of your will imposed upon it. Message edited by author 2012-11-09 13:45:49. |

teenage angstby KenComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: What a pristine image this is - I really like the colours and the way the pictures on the wall pop. The fact that this is unposed, is no surprise - you have communicated a good sense of authenticity here. I really like the vignette too.
Critical stuff: Nothing that could have been achieved without moving foreground furniture.
Overall: Really excellent image. Message edited by author 2012-11-09 13:49:28. |
