cock fightby StagoleeComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I like how there are two sets of movement - one by camera and one by fowl. The poultry movement is the more interesting white their curves of movement described in the lines of the image.i like the subtle coloration too.
Critical stuff: it could perhaps stand a tighter crop on the left.
Overall: Interesting and effective. |

Positives: Superb coloration evokes B movie goodness, the Duth angle contributes too - along with the UFO-ready sky. In many ways the foreground structure is not needed to evoke a science fiction feel; you've created that atmosphere in other ways.
Critical stuff: Nope
Overall: I like this a lot. |

, I Promiseby pixelpigComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I've tried to decode this image and failed but I don't mind a bit. It frees me to see what I want to see. I do find it upbeat with echos of a brass band playing in a band stand on a summer's day. There are great colours here that are reminiscent of that season.
Critical stuff: The abstraction abstracts us and for me it keeps us remote as a viewer, we can't be in the scene.
Overall: I like it but I think it has a natural cap on its interest. |

Pigeon landingby MelethiaComment: Originally posted by Kelli: Guess what?! This is my 10,000th comment! I never thought I'd make that many. First, I want to thank you for being such an inspiration, mentor, benefactor and friend. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have stuck around here. I would have given up in frustration years ago! You are a wonderful person with a unique eye and I've lived all over the world vicariously through your vision. So Thank You Deb!
Now for the comment... This is exactly what I'm talking about! This is so quirky. Tourists, from the point of view of the pigeon! It's beautifully processed and the framing is perfect. |
What a fantastic place to put such a landmark comment. Well done on the landmark and well done Deb on inspiring people.
This is a particularly fine image. |

Ice Manby MelethiaComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Fascinating image - so rich in its presentation of colour. The degree of blur is fantastic - oodles of mystery but with maintenance of the shape of the figure. I feel we are high, looking over his shoulder; I'm intrigued by the red thing by his right foot (assuming I'm right about the orientation) - is it a pot plant? Ahead into the light, the sense of mystery is almost mystical - like a light in the woods - alien abduction dream incarnate!
Critical stuff: Nope
Overall: Very successful image. |

Only For a Momentby IAmEliKatzComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I really like the use of blur in images and this is a particularly dynamic example. I like how the trails paint out the rhythm of walking. The red coloration provides a great accent against the great sky and pavement.
Critical stuff: I think I would've preferred in straightened - as odd as that sounds for an image such as this, I think straight verticals would emphasise the chaos and flow of the movement.
Overall: Interesting shot. |

man on bikeby jmritzComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I do like low fidelity images and this certainly qualifies - I hope this turns out to be a pinhole or zone plate affair.
Critical stuff: However... for me, the highlights over-dominate, the coloration isn't that interesting and the subject matter itself a little 'straight up'.
Overall: I like what the image stands for but I'm not keen on this presentation. Sorry. |
